September 1991: GUNS N' ROSES release 'Use Your Illusion I+II' albums

GNR Use Your Illusion

September 18th 1991:

On this day in 1991, GUNS N'ROSES released two monumental double-albums on the same day, 'Use Your Illusion I' and Use Your Illusion II'.

The supporting tour for the albums ran from January 20th 1992 to July 17, 1993, and remains one of the longest tours in rock history (consisting of 194 shows in 31 countries!). Even though both albums have been certified 7 x platinum for sales of 7 million copies each, 'Use Your Illusion II' has proven to be slightly more popular over the years.

Sadly, these 2 albums were also the last Guns N'Roses recordings to feature original members Izzy Stradlin on rhythm guitar and Steven Adler on drums (however, Adler only appeared on "Civil War". The rest of the tracks featured the talents of Matt Sorum).
